Since 1984 it has been possible to cross the border into the Italian resort of La Thuile, adding a different dimension to skiing in this region. Via some long drag lifts, you can get across and sample la dolce vita. On the Italian side you will find some more challenging slopes with well groomed reds and some black slopes. It is a great advantage for those at an intermediate to advanced level when staying at La Rosière!
For the 2018/2019 season the resort saw a great new addition to its offering with a whole new ski area opened up on Mont Valaisan. There are now two new 6 pack chairlifts to transport you there where you will find 5 new red runs. This addition has created a much more diverse range of slopes to explore and made an already great resort even better.
As La Rosière is rather outshone by the more well-known resorts of Tignes and Val d’Isère, it is usually nice and quiet. While you will not quite get the slopes all to yourself, you will have plenty of space! This is perfect for beginners who can practice without the pressure of being surrounded, as is often the case at busier resorts.

La Rosière is built in the traditional Savoyard style with quaint wooden chalets and cosy bars and restaurants. There is very little through traffic, making the village the perfect place to relax in peace and quiet. While you will not find a lively nightlife, there are plenty of places to enjoy a drink amongst the friendly locals. You can also sample some of the delicious local fare, perfect to revive you after a long day on the slopes!
Finally, at La Rosière you can enjoy stunning panoramic views across the Isère Valley and the see the dramatic peaks of Mont Blanc, Mont Pourri and Aiguille Rouge. With its usually sunny weather the views are breathtaking, especially from the 2650 m summit of the resort!
