Cornwall is a fantastic family holiday destination with something to entertain the whole family. Whether you are visiting just for the day, a weekend or a longer break, you will not have a chance to get bored! The county is home to some of the country’s most beautiful beaches, important historical attractions, world renowned gardens and some of the most fun family activities. Below we have chosen 5 of our favourite family attractions to ensure that you can make the most of your Cornish adventure!

Camel Creek offers one of the best family days out in Cornwall. Head to Swampy and Dina Land with the little ones for fun rides, such as the tea cups and log flume, soft play areas and Swampy’s treehouse. For the more adventurous, Thunder Canyon is the place to be with exhilarating rides such as the park’s biggest rollercoaster ‘Air Bender’ and the ‘Raging Rivers’ water adventure with its almost vertical drop! There is also Kiddie’s Kingdom and Creature Creek where you can watch the meerkat family, pet the rabbits in Pet Corner and marvel at the crocodiles and snakes in Crocodile Corner. Camel Creek is a wonderful day out with the family and provides all the facilities you need for unforgettable Cornish adventure!
For a fun and interactive journey into Cornwall’s seafaring past pay a visit to Newquay’s Pirate’s Quest experience. With your ‘real’ pirate guide you will be transported back in time through a series of brilliant pirate sets and hear about the swashbuckling stories from local pirate lore. Meet some infamous characters, experience the special effects and take part in the story as you make your way through Cornwall in the 1700s. It is a fantastic attraction for families and there are even treasure maps for kids with real treasure to be found!

Neglected for almost a century the mysterious Lost Gardens of Heligan were rediscovered in the late 1990s and completely restored to their former glory. You may remember them from a 6-part series on Channel 4 which followed the restoration from an overgrown jungle to a stellar local tourist attraction. The gardens offer a fascinating day out for all the family with 200 acres of Victorian gardens including kitchen gardens, Italian gardens, a sub-tropical jungle section and much more! Wander through bamboo tunnels, ancient woodlands and discover a magical natural world at all times of year.
You cannot visit Cornwall without spending some time at the beach and where better than one of the country’s best surfing beaches? Fistral Beach in Newquay is world famous for its waves and attractions professionals and amateurs alike. It is a beautiful beach between two promontories and hosts a great variety of water sports besides surfing, no matter your skill level. It is also the perfect beach for relaxing and people watching! You can marvel at the surf pros at their best and enjoy a giggle as you see first timers struggle to find their feet.

Another world-famous destination, the Eden Project is a brilliant fun and educational day out with the kids. Its otherworldly bubble structures contain millions of different species of plants from all over the world and walking through them is like taking a step onto a different planet! Make your way through tropical foliage and past trickling streams, as you experience the wonder of a rainforest indoors. There are regular tours and workshops to teach you and the family all about the work of the Eden Project and its important research. You can also enjoy different seasonal events, including a ride on England’s longest zip wire and explore the plants from up high on the Rainforest Canopy Walkway.
