Morzine is an ideal summer cycling holiday destination. The resort has 650kms of mountain biking trails, 55 downhill MTB trails, 25 mountain bike schools and 12 well connected resorts. Morzine has hosted 20 stages of the Tour de France since 1975, has a fantastic mix of advanced and less challenging routes to choose from and offers wonderful alpine views. Morzine has been part of the Tour de France route since 1975 and has 20 stages of the race. It is a world-renowned cycling destination as it has plenty of challenging mountain passes or cols with some steep climbs and long descents. Col de Joux Plane, is one of the more famous cols. It stretches between Samoens and Morzine and has a terrifyingly difficult 13% gradient, which proves a challenge even for the most professional cyclists! Less challenging but noteworthy cols include, Col de la Ramaz and Col de Joux Verte. Advanced cyclists will not be disappointed by what Morzine and its surroundings have to offer, with plenty of different route options for a whole week or more.
Morzine is not short of summer cycling events besides the Tour de France. In June it hosts the Vallee d’Aulps Cyclosportive, which offers a range of different routes. This ranges from the most difficult, a 160km route with 3400m of climbs or a shorter 105km route with comparatively easier climb of 1900m. The Pass’Porte du Soleil is an 80km event that passes through 9 resorts in France and Switzerland, including Morzine. There are also many non-cycling events that you can plan into your trip, such as the Trail des Hauts Fauts race and the Mont-Blanc Morzine Rally. You will not have a chance to get bored during your trip!

Morzine has all you could need for a cycling holiday. There are specialised chalets and hotels for cyclists, that include storage, bike cleaning rooms and easy access to the main cycling routes. Specialised cycling shops offer all the necessary equipment, repairs and bike hire, if you do not plan to bring your own. Perhaps most importantly, the roads surrounding the resort and further afield are maintained to a high quality and are perfect for road cycling. Most roads are also quiet, giving you peace to enjoy the beautiful views of the Alps!
A cycle around Morzine is breathtaking. There are high mountain passes, green valleys, verdant forests, pastures for local cows, stunning lakes and rivers and so much more. You certainly will not be disappointed by the scenery during your stay with a rich array of flora and fauna on show throughout the summer season!

Morzine is well connected and despite being in the middle of the mountains, it is not difficult to get to. Geneva Airport is a 90 minute drive away with many transfer options to Morzine whether by private taxi or coach. Transfers are often provided with your accommodation, such as with the MTB Morzine package. You can also catch the TGV train to Cluses station, which run directly from Paris Gard du Nord. Transfers from Cluses take around 40 minutes.
